Double Crested Cormorant – Hollow, rotomolded polyethylene, 1/4”/20 threaded insert for anchor rod. Available in standing and nesting postures.

Since 2004, these decoys a have been used in conjunction with the Columbia River Capsian Tern project. Beginning in 2005, Double Crested Cormorant decoys are being used to investigate the efficiency of Passive Integrated Transponder tags (pit-tags). The study is being done by Columbia Bird Research in collaboration with fish biologists. The small microchip pit-tags are inserted into juvenile salmon, those salmon are then eaten by fish-eating birds such as cormorants and the tags deposited in the colony. The decoys are being used to attract the birds to platforms where the tags can then be recovered at the end of the season.
